Twelve portraits made in a single room with a single light, each sitting lasting as long as it took for the sitter to stop performing.
Objective
To explore identity and character, and the tension between how a person appears and what they are feeling.

Creative Direction
]
Concept, Research & Approach.
Shadow is used as a second subject. Faces are partly withheld so the viewer has to complete the image themselves.
Photographed in black and white on a slow lens. No retouching beyond dust removal; the texture of skin and grain is part of the portrait.
